COD DMZ beginner guide: plan your first Hajin deployment

Start your first COD DMZ deployment with one objective and an exit condition. A short run that answers a useful question is a better foundation than an ambitious route you cannot yet evaluate.

Know which DMZ you are opening

Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ takes place in Hajin and combines hostile AI with rival Operators. You can deploy alone or with a squad, complete activities, collect resources, and attempt to extract. Successful extraction supports later deployments through persistent gear and progression. This guide concerns MW4 DMZ, so do not assume an older Al Mazrah walkthrough describes the current rules.

The official schedule lists DMZ Early Access from October 20 and the full MW4 release on October 23, 2026. Early access is a digital preorder benefit; check your purchase and platform if access is missing. Those dates describe availability, not a guarantee that a particular server is reachable.

Write a one-sentence mission

Our recommended starting plan is deliberately small: identify one task, collect only what it needs, and leave after it is complete. This is a planning suggestion, not a tested optimal leveling route. A usable goal sounds like ‘learn the approach to this objective and return with a record of what blocked us.’ ‘Find good loot’ gives the squad no shared stopping point.

Before deploying, agree who calls a retreat and what would trigger it. You might leave after completing the task, after spending your recovery supplies, or when an unfamiliar encounter makes the original plan impractical. Pick the rule while everyone can think clearly; arguing about the value of one more building mid-fight is harder.

Treat the return journey as part of the task

Use the Tac Map to understand the space around your chosen activity before committing. Sketch an approach, a fallback direction, and the information you still lack. An unexplored crossing is a question to investigate, not a route to describe as safe.

For your first runs, keep a brief field note with three entries: intended objective, reason the plan changed, and what you would prepare differently. This turns an unsuccessful extraction into a concrete next step without pretending that every loss was avoidable.

  • Check your actual backpack and loadout before committing.
  • Tell teammates when you are moving, stopping, or abandoning the task.
  • Reassess after an unexpected fight instead of automatically continuing.

Review the decision, then adjust one thing

The official Hajin guide describes an After Action Report after deployment. Read it alongside your own note: the report records outcomes, while your note explains why you chose a route or engagement.

Choose one adjustment for the next deployment. Bring a missing supply, investigate a different entrance, or reduce the objective. Changing the whole plan after every setback makes it difficult to learn what helped. Keep exploration goals modest until you can explain both the approach and the return.
